Bow Crafting Part 4: Bow Key-chain

Oh, hello.
Here's a fun fact about me: I fucking love bows.

Most people who know me know about the whole situation because I talk about it and sometimes I wear bows in my hair. It's really not a secret. And then I went on a three day bow crafting extravaganza. (See here, here, and here.)
I told you there was an ellipses after Bow Crafting Part 3, not a period.
And now you know why.

Bow crafting never ends. I will continue making bows forever. Or at least until I develop arthritis in my hands OR go blind.
...Not sure which will come first. I'm taking bets.

Why I made a bow key-chain:
I get made fun of on the regular for my current key chain situation. Mostly because I look like a janitor.
On my key chain, you will find:

-My wallet. (Yes. I use one of those little key chain pouches as a wallet. It is phat. It is also fat because wallets should be larger. I'm 15 years late on the slang.)
-A Duane Reade flex card. (Go savings!)
-Two bike-lock keys. (I ride a bike for transportation regularly. Imagine me with a helmet. It's super cute.)
-A key to my sister's apartment.
-My mail key.
-My building key.
-My Front door key.
-A bottle opener gifted to me from Mr. Desk Job. (Drinking is part of the job description.)
-A key fob for Mr. Desk Job.
...I would make fun of me too.
Carrying all of my possessions around the office has been straight up annoying. So I decided to make a key chain exclusively for my key fob to lighten my load.

Cue the bow key-chain:
Cute. So Cute. Super Cute. (Anyone else watch Happy Endings?)

One could say my new key chain is similar to this Marc Jacobs version, if one wanted to:

Cole Haan Inspired Brogues

A few months (weeks) back I bought a few pairs of shoes from Asos so I could craft them into more exciting versions of themselves. First, I made the J.Crew inspired gold loafer. Then, the neon tipped pair. This weekend, I made this rad pair of Cole Haan inspired brogues.

Check it:

Here is the original pair:
You can buy these for a cool $178.00 from Zappos. Or, you could go with the crafty route and save yourself a good hundred bucks. Crafting win!

Mustache Ring

Oh, yeahhhhh.
I'm getting crafty with mustaches, AGAIN
This blog is starting to get a bit redundant, isn't it. I'll work on that.
However, Klout told me that I'm a specialist, which means I'm focused and consistent. In this way, we could look at the redundant quality as a positive: According the the kouts, I'm an expert in my field! The field of mustaches and glitter, that is. Go me!

Today, le moostache is rockin' as a finger party.
Eh? EH?!

Finger mustache: another excellent social lubricator. Also, super awesome for those who get really awkward and uncomfortable infront of cameras (me).
The finger mustache creates an allusion of coolness for the camera shy. A hipper solution than the duck-lipped kissy face.

You know what is gonna be super cool? When I wear my mustache necklace and my mustache ring this weekend. Also, my phone will be wearing it's mustache case. (Should I name my phone? Is it male or female? These are important questions.)
Point of the story: coordinating accessories is so not cool.
I might have bad taste.

Miu Miu Inspired Earrings

I had a stroke of fimo genius last night, and I made three bad-ass items. I honestly couldn't decide which to show you first. Like, I might have lost some sleep over it. #BloggerGirlProblems

I decided on these Miu Miu inspired earrings because I am totally rocking the lightening-bolt version today. I have received several compliments already, one from a total stranger on the subway. Just sayin'

Check out the originals:
(Thanks, Net-a-Porter, for the inspiration. I love you.)

Check out this fly chick. (That's me.)
Rockin'.

Glitter Collar, Hollar.

Happy Tuesday. I hope all y'all had a rad holiday weekend! I know I did.
Three-day weekends rock.

One of the several awesome activities I enjoyed this weekend was craft supply shopping! WHOOP. So much crafting to look forward to! I somehow managed to forget to buy over 50% of the list, despite the fact that I had the list in my hand. #Why.

I also made this baller coller:
*OoOoOoOoOoOo*
It sparkles so pretty!

I'm going collar happy and you can't stop me!
POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Christopher Kane Inspired Phone Case

Oh, hai.

I know I'm late to the party, but Net-A-Porter has become my everything. Ever.
I have been finding cray inspiration, and I'm so excited to start some supremely rad projects.
(I share all my internet based inspiration on my tumblr, twitter, and pinterest.)

To kick of a wonderland of fashion inspired crafting, I present to you:
A Christopher Kane Inspired Cell Phone Case

A what?!
How is this Christopher Kane inspired?
Check out this dress:
See the resemblance? Eh? Eh?
Word.
I'm jumping on the fashion train! Who's with me?!

BTW, if you want this dress, you can't have it. It's sold out. But if it wasn't sold out, it would cost a mere four grand. No big deal.

In other news, I wish I had so much money so I could buy this skirt

Plastic Collar, Hollar!

I'm for cray excited about today's post. Mostly because it's super rad.

What I did was I took these (fantastic) plastic bows and crossbred them with this chain collar (hollar).
Their offspring looks amazeballs. (Who would've thunk it?)

I would like to introduce you to,
My Plastic Collar!

Here's some exciting news (to keep you coming back): I already started THREE other collars! Eeeeek! So exciting. One of them should be ready by early next week. The others might take a little while longer. But I'm already excited about them. (If you could see my face, you would know that I'm for shits excited.)

Studded Mason Jar

I am taking studs to a whole new level. That's right, I'm covering my apartment with studs.

I can't wait for that awkward moment when someone comes over and I'm wearing one of my (two) studded bags, my studded bracelet, my studded phone case, grab an advil from my studded pill box, with a studded barrette holding up my hair and a studded headband keeping the strands off my face, while I wear studded earrings. Coordinating accessories is COOL.

Coordinating accessories with your apartment's decor is even cooler.
Dude. I covered a mason jar in studs. If only my walls were black and I had a bunch of red candles and skulls. Instead - picture neon and sunshine.

Studded Headband

Last week I notified you that there would be one more headband coming your way. Well guess what? Today is the day. Exciting stuff happening over here.

Another fun teaser, this will not be the only studded post this week. Now I have your attention, don't I. The future stud post is a little bit more unexpected and exciting
I pretty much don't have to show you how to make this headband because it's straight forward. Glue some studs on a headband. BAM! Trendy accessory.
I am going to show you anyways, because that's just what I do.

Blang Blang.

I'm on Tumblr!

That's right kiddos! I'm on tumblr!
Now you can hit me up through several forms of social media.

...still not on Google+ ...still don't get Google+

By following me on all (or one) of the above social media sites, you can be confident that you will never miss a post on my blog! I know you have been losing sleep over the thought of missing one of my posts, so I though I would make your nights easier.

In addition to shamelessly promoting myself on social media, I also post lots of links to other amazing DIY tutorials and DIY inspiration! Craft heaven! Following me on the social medias will enrich your lives. I swear it. So go ahead, follow me. You won't be sorry...

Mustache Phone Case

My recent mustache necklace was a hit. I got lots o' wonderful feedback over the interwebs and in person. I learned that many of you, not unlike myself, love accessorizing with mustaches. And who can blame us, really?

So I decided to milk the mustache love for all that it's worth and make...
A Mustache Phone Case!
This is magical because I mixed two things I love to make something new: Cell phone cases and mustaches.

I am not the first to slap a mustache on the back of a phone case.
Mr. Dannjio was actually the pioneer on this one.
But who really wants to cough up 98 big ones for a cell phone case? Definitely not a twenty something crafty lady who is trying to save up for a couch.

My version cost maybe 10 bucks. MAYBE.

Violent Accessorizing: Spiked Headband

Yesterday I told you that today's post was going to be the tits. When I stated that, I was actually expecting to post something different today, but then last night shit hit the fan, and let's just say - the fimo wouldn't stay hard.
Waaa Waaaaa.

I would try again tonight but I plan to be drinking, so that project won't be ready for another couple of days. (Do you like how I am barely giving any hints as to what I am working on. This is how I keep you coming back. Suspense.)

Fear not, you crafty cucaracha. Today's post is particularly rad (and easy to make).

In case you are out of the loop, studs and spikes are IN. I have deeply enjoyed making a variety of violent accessories. Like this phone case, this pill box, this bracelet, this bracelet, these earrings, this hair barrette, and this business card holder. Obviously studs and spikes are near and dear to my heart. I hope that by continuing to make violent accessories I can perpetuate this trend. One craft at a time.

The spikes have made it onto... A HEADBAND.
I know. You are all like "That's two headbands in ONE WEEK. Chill Melissa." And, I hear you. But I have to tell you, I made a third headband that I will share later this week (or early next). The thing is, I got three headbands in one pack at M&J last week and I can't stop crafting on them. If you don't like it, you can leave
(Except please don't! I make lots of other stuff! I swear it. Please stay. I love you.)

Geometric Necklace

I made this necklace here a few weeks back and totally forgot to tell you about it.
See:
Cute, right?

I'm le tired. Don't hate me because I fail to entertain today. Just re-read what I wrote yesterday. It might be less amusing the second time, but it's still more exciting than this.

In good news: I think tomorrow's post will be just the tits. Now you have something to look forward to.
Forgive my lack of flavor, but enjoy this necklace, because not one, but two ladies in my life have drooled over and requested this on-trend piece of neck candy.

Rhinestone Headband

Hello chickens.
While you were watching the super-bowl (commercials) and drinking beer, I was busy watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 and 2) and making this little ditty:

This pretty hair piece was inspired by Miu Miu's Jewelry catalog:

I might be the only New Yorker who did not tune in to the game (halftime show).
"Why not, you anti-social loser?" you ask.
Because I don't understand football nor do I enjoy watching organized team sports. Don't get me wrong - I'm athletic - I have some ninja hand-eye coordination AND I ran a mother f-ing marathon. (No big deal.) I'm just not team oriented (or spirited).

I have no idea what the rules of football are and I find the whole thing painfully boring.* To me football means watching a bunch of men in tights and shoulder-pads run around a field for like 10 hours. (Why is it SO long?!) This might mean I'm a bad American, but hey, at least I wasn't hung over for work on a Monday morning.
*My dad is not proud of my complete inability to grasp football.

To illustrate my point, I made you a collage. You're welcome.
This is what football would have to look like to catch my interest:
This is why I'm single.
I have also discovered I have a new hobbie: Making ridiculous collages on Photoshop. Just another way to ensure everyone I know thinks I'm bat-shit crazy. Fun times!

Since football does not look like the above picture, I made a sparkle-y headband during the Super bowl. And then I paraded around my apartment (alone) wearing it like the bad-ass that I am. You stopped reading when you saw the picture didn't you. Oh well, I'll continue anyways. For my own entertainment.

Neon-Tipped Shoes

Here's the deal: Mr. Desk Job was supa demanding yesterday (and today) so I have no time for chit-chat and what-not's. But just so you know, that's why I neglected you yesterday. I'm so sorry.
(This is also why I wrote this post last night in the comfort of my bed.)

Now, I know it probably stings a little bit to hear that my desk job takes priority over you, and you might be mad at me for that. BUT, before you throw your computer across the room and start crying, think about this:
Desk job pays for the roof over my head, the food in my mouth, AND the glitter in my soul. Without desk job, I cannot buy the tools to be your crafting genius, and that would make your life simply miserable. So, you must learn to love and appreciate desk job like I have. If on occasion desk job gets a little demanding, please be patient. Desk job is your friend, and desk job needs TLC too.

Now, I will get right to the point because I have shits to do. I won't dance around it.
You ready?
Today I am a copy cat.
I saw this DIY Inspiration post by I Spy DIY a while back and have been looking forward to making me some neon-tipped shoes. I have no idea where the lovely Jenni of I Spy DIY found these pics but I dig 'em.

So I made myself a pair.
Why did I wait until now to make these when I clearly saw the DIY Inspiration post back in August?
Because I just found these basic oxford for cheap at Asos.com.
That's why.

No time, no time. Let's get to it.

Hand Painted Tribal Cell Phone Case

The cell phone monster is back!  Watch-out electronic devices. Ima throw glitter at you.

I took a little brake from electronic accessorizing for two reasons
1. The response to the lace cell phone case was phenomenal, and I knew that the following case would be a disappointment. I think we have passed the appropriate amount of time to avoid that.
2. My cell phone guy on Canal street disappeared! Seriously. One day he was there, the next a storefront had taken over. I spent 2 weeks mourning my loss, and 2 weeks searching for new guys. I found some street vendors in Soho, so cell phone crafting has officially resumed! And its badder than ever. Bad-ASS, that is.

Cue the tribal music.
Hand painted Tribal Cell Phone Case.
The interwebs tell me that tribal patter is spot on trend. You're welcome.
